Form 700 Statement of Economic Interest for Pasadena Mayoral, City Council, and PUSD Candidates

Here, available online for the first time, are personal financial disclosure statements by candidates for Pasadena Mayor, Pasadena City Council, and Pasadena Unified School District Board Member for the March 10th, 2015 election.

State law requires that all candidates file an FPPC (Fair Political Practices Commission) Form 700 "Statement of Economic Interest".  In this form, candidates disclose financial interests such as real estate and business investments relevant to the region they serve.  The details of what must be disclosed are complicated and designed both to limit what candidates must disclose to relevant disclosures and to be broad enough to apply to all potential conflicts of interest.  For example, if a city mayoral candidate owns a rental property near Lake Tahoe and owns half of a potato farm in Idaho, these properties would not need to be disclosed as they have essentially no potential relevance to how the candidate, if elected, might exercise their power as Mayor.  However, ownership of a rental property along the I-710 corridor or ownership of a potato farm in Pasadena (admittedly an unlikely property) is potentially relevant to how the candidate, if elected, might exercise their power as Mayor.

These Form 700s are public documents, available by public records request to the public.  To facilitate access and help inform voters, the League of Women Voters Pasadena Area have posted these public documents online prior to the March 10th, 2015 election.  Form 700s for elected candidates will be posted on the FPPC website after the election (see, for example, this page), but this fails to inform voters prior to making their decision.  The city of Pasadena is currently executing a plan to post these Form 700s on the city's website but does not expect this to be complete until later in 2015.

The Form 700s posted here are redacted.  Information such as home address and phone number are not visible.
